ABOUT ME:  WHO AM I?

I am a simple country girl from small town North Dakota.  My mother would sew clothes, crochet afghans, hair bows, Christmas ornaments, almost anything.  My grandmother made quilts, and more quilts, and more quilts.  I was surrounded by amazing women who were very talented, but I was young and I had NO interest.

​Fast forward many, many, many years.  I was about to become a grandmother, and it hit me.  HARD.  I wanted my grandchildren to have the most amazing memories that I had.  Curled up in bed, one of grandma's quilts snuggling me in, making me feel so loved & keeping me oh so warm. 

 My grandmother was the most kind, loving, caring, and giving woman there ever was.  And I wanted to be just like her.  So I bought a few yards of fabric and sewed a few quilts. 

I was HOOKED.

​I started to find some great deals on clearance fabric, and so I loaded up whenever I could.  My husband loved to see me smile and encouraged me.  In fact, he shopped with me and for me!  My children got involved and they shopped for me and with me.  

​My stash expanded and expanded some more.  Exploded might be a better word.  I took over 1 spare bedroom of the house, then another.  I loved every minute of it.  I still do.  Life was amazing and beautiful and I was so blessed and so happy.  (I still am.)  

​I love fabric.  ALL fabric.  I love looking for it, buying it, folding it, ironing it, cutting it, sewing it....you get the idea.  Everyone that saw my stash told me I should SELL it! (Can you imagine the HORROR of that!) 

So there was this idea to maybe, possibly, sometime, sell some of it in order to buy more of it.  Brilliant idea! Well, then an opportunity arose, my husband said "DO IT", and I was terrified.  I thought about it.  I dreamed about it.  I talked about it.  I made notes about it.  I thought about it some more, stressed about it some more, thought some more and more and more...and then......

I DID IT.

​So here I am.  A 51 year old grandmother, wife, mother, daughter, small business owner, who is jumping in with both feet to start a brand new adventure.

​AND I AM SO EXCITED!

ABOUT US:  WHO ARE THEY?

 

In the photos you will see a beautiful young blonde woman and a nice looking old guy along with a tall man with a hat on in EVERY picture as well as a very active little boy!  That's my daughter Mary and my dad, as well as my son Derrik and my grandson Harvey! 

Mary does it all.  She helps enter in the inventory, she cuts your orders, helps to package and ship, she LOVES to organize.  (YES I am serious!  Like mother like daughter!)  She cleans, she folds, she does it all.  She even cooks dinner on those days when I stay way too late trying to get things done! 

As for my daddio.....we are still deciding on an official title for him.  Al The Intern?  King of Cottons?   Father Fabric??  Anyway, he just turned 80, loves his NDSU Bison sports, pinochle (yes we are a BIG card playing family), his grandkids and great grandkids, and is over all pretty witty!  (But PLEASE don't tell him we think so or it will be come unbearable...lol).  He comes to help when he is bored and we love having him here.  He measures fabric for us and helps with shipping on our busy days too, and has been known to bring us a hotdish for lunch!   

Derrik works full-time at the VA hospital here in town but comes in to help us out in the middle of the night after his shift ends, or late afternoons or early mornings, depending on his schedule and what we are up to.  He pulls orders, cuts fabric, and generally adds to the laughter and chaos as his limited amount of time allows. 

The young little fellow running around like this is his very own Ninja Warrior course, is my utterly handsome grandson, Harvey.  I want to squeeze him til he pops:-)  He LOVES to run around and cause general chaos, but we love him dearly and always enjoy it so much when he comes to spend time with his grandma at the shop. 

Who you DON'T see in many of the pictures is my husband, Jerry.  The man, the myth, the legend...as the saying goes.  Without him, his encouragement, his skills (he builds EVERYTHING), this wouldn't be here!  He has shopped ALL over the country for fabric for me and with me before this was even a thought!  And when I initially started this....I wanted to see if I could get a good deal on some fabric....how much could I buy and how much could I SAVE!  That turned into the idea of getting 1 pallet so that I could find what I REALLY wanted and sell the rest on the side in the slow season of our regular business.  In very typical Jerry fashion, my EXTREME reluctance to even think about 1 whole pallet...turned into 6 pallets for my 1st order which turned into a trip to my supplier which in turn turned into 10 more pallets and so it continues!   Remember...

WE ARE NEW TO THIS! (Online fulltime in March of 2024)

Really, really, really, really new.......months in....not years....not even close to a year!  My first pallets were delivered in September of 2023!  And then........we had to build the website, get up on Facebook, get inventory entered in, figure it out ALL out on the fly!  We ARE doing the best we can.  We DO make mistakes, but we are learning from them and getting better every day!  (We have just added some YouTube videos and will be getting them up on the regular in 2025).
